8. izdanje Kairo Video Festival organizuje Medrar centar za Savremenu umetnost,a otvara se 5. februara 2017. godine u Rawabet Theater – Townhouse u Kairu. Festival ima paralelne programe i dogadjaje koji ce trajati do 28. februara na više lokacija. 119 radova ce biti izloženi u ovom izdanju iz 63 razlicite zemlje. Radovi su nominirani i izabrani od strane festivala tima i clanova zirija: Muhammed Hassan Shawky (Egipat), Ghassan Salhab (Libanon) i Jeroen Kooijmans (Holandija). Kairo Video Festival organizuje Centar za Savremenu umetnost uz podrsku americke ambasade u Kairu, Dedi – dansko egipatskog Instituta za dijalog, Japan Foundation, Yunus Emre institut, švajcarski Arts Council Pro Helvetia, Britanski Council, Institut Francais i Al-Ismaeila.

The 8th edition of Cairo Video Festival organized by Medrar for Contemporary Art will open on the 5th of February 2017 at Rawabet Theater- Townhouse. The 8th edition of the festival features parallel programs and events that will run until February 28 in multiple venues. 119 works will be showcased in this edition from 63 different countries. The works have been nominated and selected by the festival’s team and the jury members: Muhammed Hassan Shawky (Egypt), Ghassan Salhab (Lebanon) and Jeroen Kooijmans (Netherlands). The 8th Cairo Video Festival is organized by Medrar for Contemporary Art and supported by the US embassy in Cairo, DEDI- The Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute, Japan Foundation, Yunus Emre Institute, Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, British Council, Institut français, and Al-Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment.

“Krug života” je stara bakina chipka koju sam petlju po petlju parao i svaki oparani deo chipke skenirao kako bih kasnije sve te petlje digitalno pokrenuo u jedan niz i tako ponovo ispleo chipku, ali ovaj put novom savremenom tehnologijom. To je i pricha o kreativnom kontaktu sa pretcima, ali i o životnom krugu svakog ponaosob.

“Circle of life” is my old grandma’s lace which I did unlaced, part by part, and each part of the lace scanned to make them, digitally in a moving line and make from it a new lace, but with a new technology. This is a story of my contact with my ancestors, and the circle of life of each of us.
